Laboratory Overview:
The Bloodborne Viruses Laboratory (BVL) serves as the public health reference laboratory for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) testing, encompassing the diagnostic testing services and programs previously administered by the Diagnostic HIV Laboratory and the Viral Genotyping Laboratory. The BVL testing program includes the Pediatric HIV Testing Service, which provides nucleic acid and serological testing to assist in the diagnosis of HIV infection associated with perinatal exposure.
