Footnotes

Lavender top tubes for Anaplasma phago- cytophilum PCR, Babesia microti PCR, Bartonella sp. PCR and Ehrlichia chaffeensis PCR can be submitted with serum. The Diagnostic Immunology Laboratory (DIL) will forward the specimen to the appropriate laboratory.

Lavender top tubes, CSF or skin punches for Borrelia burgdorferi PCR can be submitted with serum. DIL will forward the specimen to the appropriate laboratory. continued

When Encephalitis PCR testing is also desired, freeze at least 1.0 mL of CSF, complete additional Virus Encephalitis Laboratory (VEL) paperwork and ship on dry ice directly to VEL. Serum for Arbovirus Screen may be shipped together with the CSF. Serum will be forwarded by VEL to DIL.

Immunity testing is available for local and state health department employees.
